William Robert “Bob” Arms, age 83 of Adams, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Alive Hospice Nashville surrounded by family. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Father Frank Ruff officiating. Interment will follow the service at Adams Cemetery at Red River Baptist Church with Alexander Horton, Andy Arms, James Mack Fletcher, Ricky Fulps, Scotty Cavender, Brad Holt, Greg Davis, and Mike Rosemore serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Dean Bagby, Donnie Edwards, Bill James, Neil Carter, and John Holt. The family will receive guests on Tuesday November 26 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
Bob was born on Monday, July 28, 1941 at Glen Raven in Cedar Hill, TN to the late William Frank and Junie Morgan Arms. At age 13 his family moved to Indian Bend Farm in Adams, TN. He was a graduate of Jo Byrns High School Class of 1959. Upon completion of his apprenticeship he became a Millwright at the Millwright Local 1544 of Nashville, Tennessee and was later a part of Millwright Local 1102 of Michigan. He was married to Barbara Jean Fletcher Arms for 61 years and they were blessed with two children. Bob worked for Rapistan Demag for 39 years as a superintendent of construction. While there he installed some of the largest conveyer projects in the world. He retired in 2002 and enjoyed life on the farm. He loved fishing, his family, and keeping the farm manicured. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends with cookouts and BBQ’s at the shop and loved when people stopped by for a beer. He also liked driving around on his gator to visit neighbors.
Surviving him are his wife: Barbara Jean Fletcher Arms of Adams; daughter: Cathleen and husband Scott Horton of Goodlettsville; son: William Robert (Little Bob) Arms, Jr. and wife Wanda of Hendersonville; by his grandchildren: Maci Cathleen Arms, Carley Danielle Horton, Saydi Beth Arms McGrath and husband Owen, Alexander Scott Horton, and Natali Faith Arms; brother: Duncan Wayne Arms, and sister in law: Linda Wiseman Arms.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Jim Arms, and David Arms, grandparents: Frank and Emma Copeland Arms, Lawrence Craig and Susan Hodge Morgan, and his in laws: James Harley Fletcher and Betty Manns Fletcher. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Adams Fisherman’s Club or the Adams Cemetery Maintenance Fund. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
