William “Bill Maks” Maksymowicz, age 71of White House died Friday, November 27, 2020 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 4, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be William Corbin, Jarod Jullerat, Ben Lee, Daniel Green, Eric Walker, and Max Rodgers. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the hour of service. Following the service his remains will be cremated and a graveside services will be conducted Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Richland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Walhalla, SC.
Bill Maks was born January 15, 1949 in Providence, RI to the late Joseph and Sophie Fidrych Maksymowicz. He was a plant physiologist having received a BS in Agronomy from Clemson University in1971, then a MS in Agronomy from the University of Kentucky in 1973, and a PHD in Plant Physiology from Clemson University in 1988. Following completion of his PHD, he served on the faculty of the University of Kentucky for 13 years. He then joined the Vector Corporation, where he worked for 5 years before joining Burley Stabilization Corporation where he worked until his death. He loved tobacco, its people, and its culture.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Maksymowicz of White House; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Catharine Johnson of Chattanooga; brother and sister-in-aw, Dan and Alice Maksymowicz of Venice, FL; and grandchildren, William and Richard Johnson of Chattanooga.
The family suggest, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to either the Nashville Rescue Mission or the American Heart Association. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
