Thomas Henry Minnis, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday September 22, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday September 27th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jeffrey Barnhart, Jacob Barnhart, Tyler Barnhart, Monty Head, Branden Hollis, and Jay Barbee serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Tom was born June 7, 1935 in Springfield to the late Vernon and Callie Thaxton Minnis. He was a retired wing assembler with AVCO and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved anything that allowed him to be outside, especially camping, walking, mowing his grass, and tending to his cattle. Mr. Tom loved UT and Titans football, reading his newspaper, and spending time with Miley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wilmoth Heatherly Minnis, who died in May of this year, by his brother: Billy Minnis, and by his granddaughter: Amber Barnhart. Mr. Tom is survived by his sons: Tony and John Minnis both of Springfield, by his daughters: Vicky (Rick Sanzi) Bradley of Springfield, Rita Warren of Springfield, by his brother: Larry Minnis of Bardstown, KY, by his sister: Helen Brazee of Nebraska, by his grandchildren: Miranda Head, Avery Hollis, and Jada Bradley, by his great grandchildren: Jeffrey, Tyler, and Jacob Barnhart, Maddie Head, Paisley Hollis, Nevaeh and Brahmin Barbee, and by the one that he most treasured in life, his pug and fur baby, Miley.
