Martha Sue Traughber Freeland, 81, of Cross Plains, passed from this life on Thursday April 22, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 26th, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Pastor Russ Noss officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Dr. Bruce Grubbs officiating. Pallbearers will be Wayne Leding, B.J. Traughber, Trey Traughber, Mark Traughber, Joe Swann, Kevin Clinard, and Kenny Swann serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Terry Roberts and Ed Coleman Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home and on Monday from 12 noon until service time at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cross Plains.
Mrs. Freeland was born May 24, 1939 in Springfield to the late Hugh and Mary Moudy Traughber, Sr. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1957, a retired shipping specialist with Ingersoll Rand, and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cross Plains. Mrs. Freeland loved being outdoors working in her flowers and helping on the farm, working in the Stone Soup ministry at Mt. Carmel, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter: Gabrielle Freeland, and by her brother: Tommy Traughber.
Mrs. Freeland is survived by her husband, James Earl Freeland, whom she would be married to for 60 years this coming October, by her sons and daughters-in-law: Brian and Debbie Freeland of Burlington, KY, Stephen and Tina Freeland of Orlinda, Brent and Sabrina Freeland of Farragut, TN, by her grandchildren: Hannah, Brock, Corinne, Emma, Jessica, and Olivia Freeland, Elijah and Olivia Stewart, by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Clark and Sherry Traughber of Springfield, Hugh and Joyce Traughber, Jr., of Cross Plains, Paul and Kay Traughber of Harriman, Billy and Patti Traughber of Springfield, and Bobby Traughber of Pleasant View, and by her sister and brother-in-law: Joyce and Jake Leding of Springfield.
