Sharon was born April 6, 1948, in Davidson County to the late James Erwin and Nina Marie Beatty Thomas of Springfield. Before moving to Springfield, the Thomas family lived in Hendersonville for several years where Sharon attended school and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1966. She and Walter were married on Saturday February 11, 1967, and moved immediately to Belton, TX while Walter was serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, TX. After being discharged from the military service, they moved to Springfield in July of 1969 where Walter worked at WDBL Radio Station, and Sharon worked at Sullivan’s Department Store, and later at CEI (Johnson Electric). She was a wonderful homemaker, having won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Year award in her senior year of high school. Sharon was an outstanding cook and she specialized in making desserts. She loved her family and friends and took excellent care of all of them.
