Obituary

Russell Raymond “Rut” Burks, Jr., 64, of Cross Plains, passed away on Tuesday March 28, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center. His remains were cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at 13968 Owens Chapel Rd in Springfield.

Rut was born December 16, 1958, in Rensselaer, IN to the late Russell Raymond and Norma Jean Hall Burks. He was a heavy equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith. Rut enjoyed fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR, keeping his yard perfectly landscaped, and spending time with his family that he loved so much. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Justin Burks, his brother: Dennis Burks, and by his brother-in-law: Wayne Fuqua.

Rut is survived by his wife: Brenda Middleton Burks of Cross Plains, by his daughter and son-in-law: Rachel and Jon Walpole of Mt. Juliet, by his sisters and brother-in-law: Sherry Fuqua of Springfield, Kathy and Jim Clouse of West Lafayette, IN, and Denise Hall of Springfield, by his grandchildren: Michael Nelson, Michayla Nelson, Lillyona Burks, Zayden Striff, and Airryona Striff, and by 1 great grandchild.
