Robert Clifton “Coop” Gupton, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday January 16, 2025, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday January 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
Coop was born April 7, 1938, in Henrietta, to the late Lloyd Huron and Effie Louise Ellis Gupton. He was a graduate of Cheatham County High School. Coop worked in sales for many years and retired first from Keebler and then from the Springfield Auto Zone. He was a member of Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he had formally served as a church elder. Coop enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nelle Fyke Gupton, and by his siblings: Joe Gupton, Carl Gupton, Huron Gupton, Willard Gupton, Sydney Gupton, Geneva Evans, and Nancy Bosley. Coop is survived by his son: Andy Gupton of Springfield.
