Robert Franklin Atwood, Sr., 95, of Gallatin, passed from this life on Saturday June 8, 2019 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday June 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Wilson County Memorial Park in Lebanon with Brother Bruce Raley officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin.
Mr. Atwood was born June 15, 1923 in Smith County to the late Lon and Alma Smith Atwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, having served in WWII. Mr. Atwood was a member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville and was retired from Tennessee Building Products. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children: Gradie Lee Jennings Atwood, by his son: Robert F. “Bobby” Atwood, Jr., by his brother: Lonnie Atwood, and by his sisters: Ruth Agee and Margie Floyd.
Mr. Atwood leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Ruby Atwood of Gallatin, his sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald L. and Leanne Atwood of Lebanon, Danny and Jeannie Atwood of Bowling Green, KY, and Faye Atwood of Hartsville, his sisters: Thelma Tubb of Oak Ridge, Lucille Lewis of Alexandria, and Jodene Vantrease of Gallatin, his grandchildren: Robert (Beverly) Atwood, III, April (Rance) Lewis, Lonnie (Catherine) Atwood, Dallas (Jennifer) Atwood, Jennifer Atwood, Katie Atwood, and Laura Beth Atwood, and by 12 great grandchildren.
