Reverend Jerald "Jerry" Smith

Reverend Jerald “Jerry” Smith, 74, of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday November 19, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. His remains will be cremated, and no services are scheduled at this time.

Reverend Smith was born November 22, 1944 in Federicktown, MO to the late Dale and Iona Murray Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served during Vietnam. He was a retired Plant Engineer with Unarco in Springfield. After his retirement, he attended and graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary. Reverend Smith pastored both Maple Springs and Claybrook Cumberland Presbyterian Church’s in Beech Bluff for twenty years and then retired from the Presbytery of West Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Kay Walker. Reverend Smith is survived by his wife of 40 years: Genelle Pratt Smith of Springfield, by his children: Jim Richardson of Boulder, CO and Jill Richardson of Ashland City, by his brother: Stan Smith of Murfreesboro, and by 2 grandchildren.
