Peggy Jean Nixon Wair, 76, of Springfield, passed from this life on Wednesday December 6, 2023, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday December 10th at 2:30 p.m. in the Oakland Cemetery with Pastor Billy Barlow officiating. Pallbearers will be Dave Binkley, Darren Shreve, Robert Lynn, Keith Harris, Phil Spicer, and Kenneth Hardaway. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Peggy was born September 13, 1947, in Nashville, to the late Sidney Herman and Addie Louise Hobdy Nixon. She was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired cafeteria worker for the Robertson County Board of Education, having worked in different schools and was working at Jo Byrns at the time of her retirement. Ms. Peggy loved collecting dolls, reading, shopping, cooking and canning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Edna Ruth Whitaker, Reither Louise Hall, Mary Jeanette Carter, Albert David, Herman Moore, and Billy Byrns Nixon, and by her stepson: William Wair.
Ms. Peggy is survived by her husband of 47 years: Jerry Wair of Springfield, by her children: Darren Hallman of Springfield, Randy (Robin) Hallman of Smyrna, Janice (Darren) Shreve of Bell Buckle, Tammy (Dave) Binkley of Springfield, Morris (Arlene) Wair of Pleasant View, John (Susan) Wair of Clarksville, and Vickie (Kevin) Anderson of Louisville, KY, and by her 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
