Nancy Johnson Obituary

Nancy Ann Johnson, 90, of Springfield, TN, wife of the late Robert Johnson Sr of Hohenwald, TN, passed away Jan 1, 2020 at the White House Healthcare Center. Born in Kokomo, IN, on December 28, 1929, to Walter and Henrietta Lobeck, she grew up in Washington, IN - the daughter of a Lutheran minister. It was in Washington that she would meet and marry Bob in 1950 following his military service during WWII. With Nancy at his side, he pursued industrial engineering and management positions in Indiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Nancy happily dedicated her whole life to her husband, family, and friends. She was active in the community through church, school, and clubs. She was a member of Hohenwald United Methodist Church. She was highly regarded as a congenial and gracious hostess who loved entertaining and had a true talent for down-home cooking that began with her German roots. Nancy learned to enjoy the game of golf from Bob and she eventually matched his hole-in-one with one of her own!

Known as Nano to her grandchildren, she delighted each of them with songs, games, and homemade goodies. From her they learned about faith and love. Nano celebrated her 90th birthday in November with four generations of family! Her sparkling green eyes and radiant smile could not be suppressed by the hands of time.

In addition to her husband Bob, Nancy was predeceased by her brothers Melvin, Walter Jr, and Arthur; sisters Janie and Patsy; and great-granddaughter Mary. Nancy is survived by sons Robert Johnson Jr and wife Michelle of Springfield, TN; Stephen Johnson and wife Kate of Killeen, TX; Lawrence Johnson and wife Rhonda of Seymour, TN; 7 grandchildren, Amy Caruthers of Springfield, TN; Andrew Johnson of Kingwood, TX; Abby Parks of White House, TN; Adam Johnson of Waco, TX; Andolyn Galea of Sparks, NV; Samuel Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; Joseph Johnson of Grand Prairie, TX; 10 great-grandchildren Connor, Cason, Melanie, Frances, Millie Ann, Bridget, Andrew Jr, Alley, William, and Bethany; and brother John of Washington, IN.
