Nancy Carol Byrum, 66, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Nancy was born June 6, 1954 in Springfield to the late Russell Glen and Alma Louise Walker Byrum. She was a graduate of the Springfield High School Class of 1972. Nancy worked in security with National Life and Accident Insurance Company, which later became American General (AIG). After leaving there, she worked odd jobs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece: Kimberly Radford Roberts. Nancy is survived by her brothers: Benny (Glenda) Byrum of Hendersonville and Buford “Butch” Byrum of Portland; by her sister: Linda (David) Watkins of Swansea, SC; by her nephews: Christopher Byrum, Kelly Radford, and Kevin Radford; by her niece: Alicia Byrum Low; by her great-nieces and great-nephews; by one uncle and one aunt, and by many cousins. Her cat Sphinx was her constant companion and Nancy liked to teach Sphinx tricks.
Nancy loved music and played the clarinet in the band. She was a fan of the Tennessee Titans; loved to cook and collect cook books; loved to do crossword puzzles; collected cat figurines and loved to watch old movies and TV shows. As a youngster, Nancy and family fished at Paris Landing. One of her favorite places to visit was Panama City. Nancy was very kind hearted and loved to share with others. She loved her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
