May Bell Turner James, 95, of Springfield, passed from this life on Sunday August 10, 2025, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday August 15th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Dillard officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Jimbo Baggett, Patrick Edens, Bubba Edens, Gilbert Henderson, Donald Reeder, and Forrest Lee Reeder serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. James was born April 20, 1930, in Smithville, to the late William F. Turner and Mattie Lee Jones Turner. She was a retired dye setter with Collins and Aikman and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. Mrs. James enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She also loved to shoot pool and go dancing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Delbert James, and by her siblings: Ed Turner, W.M. Turner, Jule Turner, Loring Turner, and Ella Dean Turner.
Mrs. James is survived by her daughter: Judy Garrison of Springfield, by her son: Jimmy (Joanna) Luna of Mt. Juliet, by her step children: Ricky (Elaine) James, Ronnie (Debbie) James, Larry (Margaret) James, and Sharon (Ryan) Unger, by her sister: Birtie Ruth Reeder of Smithville, by her grandchildren: Joyce (Jimbo) Baggett, James (Tracie) Edens, Jason (Valerie) Luna, and Jeff (Sara) Luna, by her eleven step grandchildren, by her seven great grandchildren and her three great great grandchildren.
Services have been entrusted to Robertson County Funeral Home.
