Margaret Hester Obituary

Margaret Ruth Walden Hester, 69, of Greenbrier, passed from this life on Friday January 22, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday January 26th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Smith and Tim Harris officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lights Chapel Cemetery with Jimmy Hart, Chad Gregory, Dan Ayers, Kyle Davis, Benton Hart, Michael Green, Chad Williams, and John Bishop serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Margaret was born June 1, 1951 in Springfield to the late John E. and Dorothy Beatrice Spain Walden. She was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1969. Margaret was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church where she served many years as church organist, taught Sunday School, and was always a vital part of working and supporting the church youth group. She kept children in her home for many years and was known county wide for her cake baking. Margaret loved her family, baking, card making, drawing, and painting. She was always involved in the lives of her daughters while they were growing up. She supported them in Girl Scouts and went on many camping trips with them. Margaret loved the Lord and always wanted those she knew and loved to love the Lord also and to always depend on Him. She was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and wanted anyone else that had the same diagnosis to take care of themselves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Hazel Walden Mayo. Margaret is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lanny Hester of Greenbrier, by her daughters and son-in-law: Lanna Hester of Jackson, Christina and Wayne Carlisle of Greenbrier, by her grandchildren: Dayton and Laney Carlisle, and Miley Hester, and by her brother-in-law: Ray Mayo of Greenbrier.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the North Springfield Baptist Church Youth fund or the North Springfield Baptist building debt fund
