Lee Ronald Thompson, 82, of Springfield, TN passed away on Thursday November 5, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday November 14th at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home, with Brother David Harbison officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Slayden Family Cemetery in Cumberland Furnace, TN. Kevin Slayden, Timothy Slayden, Matthew Thompson, Heath Read, and Joseph Shown will be serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday November 13th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mr. Thompson was born June 24, 1938 in Medina, OH. He grew up in Huntington, IN. and attended Purdue University before relocating to Evansville, IN in 1964. Mr. Thompson was a former Livestock Inspector for the USDA before beginning as an apprentice at South Central Communications in Evansville, IN. After a 41-year career, Mr. Thompson retired as the Vice President of Engineering for the company. For many years he operated sound equipment at his home church in Evansville, and he enjoyed singing in the choir. He most recently was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. Mr. Thompson also loved fishing and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Thompson Slayden. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Jetmore Thompson; by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Jill Thompson of Pleasant View; by his grandchildren Robert Slayden, Tim Slayden, Rebekah Thompson, Matthew Thompson, and Erica Thompson; and by his three great-grandchildren, Amory Thompson, Piper Thompson, and Margo Thompson.
