Larry Thomas Brown, 73, of Portland, passed away on Tuesday July 18, 2023, at VA Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dale Swearingen officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Larry was born March 3, 1950, in Greenbrier, to the late Willie Austin and Marie Elizabeth Raymer Brown. He was a graduate of White House High School Class of 1968. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Vietnam. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Larry was a retired inspector with Ford Glass and was of the Assembly of God faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting wood and grass, his guns, and anything that allowed him to be outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Joyce Marlin and Roy Brown.
Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years: Judy Benton Brown of Portland, by his sons: Wayne (Christina Roddy) Brown of Pleasant View, Shane Brown of Greenbrier, and Brian Brown of Nashville, by his grandchildren: Austin Brown, Shelby Brown, and Logan Brown, and by his brothers: Randy (Frances) Brown of Hendersonville, Tim Brown of Millersville, and Danny Brown of Millersville.
