Larry Schneider Obituary

Larry J. Schneider, age 73 of Springfield, died Sunday December 15, 2019 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Springfield First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jerry Wallace and Reverend Dr. Jason Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Jason Newberry, Joey Newberry, Bill Hargraves, Clyde Richert, Bob Ary, Paul Henon, Butch Jones, and Shane Shoemaker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are The Believers Sunday School Class and the Praise Team of Springfield First United Methodist Church, David Bellar, and Wayne Stevens. The family will receive friends at Springfield First United Methodist Church on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mr. Schneider was born on October 29, 1946 in Gaylord, Minnesota to the late Victor and Elizabeth Schneider. He served his country with honor, courage and commitment as a member of the U.S. Navy from 1966 until 1970 on the USS Bon Homme Richard CVA-31 in Vietnam. He was proud to be a “Navy man.”

His industriousness, earnestness and diligence then led him to Springfield, Tennessee where he was the owner of S&S Precision for nearly three decades. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Ann Newberry Schneider. Larry was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church, and an unwavering weekly member of the Praise Team band. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy of enjoyment and love of life through travel, golf, music, cars, and delicious food. His friends and family greatly enjoyed his vast knowledge of these topics and knew that every conversation with him would inevitably contain two key components: knowledge of something new they did not know before and true, laugh out loud inducing hilarity and humor. His friends and family take great comfort in the knowledge that they will always carry these “Larry stories” in their hearts and throughout their lives.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, brother Greg Schneider, and sister-in-law, Gertrude Deal. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Ann Newberry Schneider and sweet Cocoa, their much-loved Pomeranian and constant companion. In addition, he is survived by his sisters Cindy Gran and Debbie Smith, brothers-in law and sister-in-law: Horace and Vickie Newberry, Terry Deal, and nephews Jason Newberry and his wife Julie, Joey Newberry and his wife Emily, and Thomas Deal and his wife Jodi.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Sabi Kumar for his compassionate treatment, care, and concern for Larry and the family during his valiant, unwavering battle with esophageal cancer.

If so desired, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Springfield First United Methodist Church Building fund.
