Larry Choate

Robert Larry Choate, Sr., 84, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday June 23, 2026, at The Waters of Springfield. His remains will be cremated, and a private family committal service will be held in Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Larry was born April 23, 1942, in Greenbrier. He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of 1960, was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church, and was a retired Transportation Technician with the State of Tennessee with 51 years of service. Larry owned and operated Larry’s TV Repair for many years. He enjoyed collecting old TV’s and radio’s, collecting all types of vintage piggy banks, and he enjoyed going to Larry’s Restaurant in Springfield for his morning coffee. Larry’s pride and joy was his 1960 Chevy Impala.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Martha Jean O’Gwin Choate, by his wife: Barbara Cooley Choate, and by his grandmother: Wilma Mayes O’Gwin. Larry is survived by his children: Robin Choate Smith and her husband Jim of Greenbrier, and Robert Larry Choate, Jr., of Springfield, and by his cousin: Marjorie Llewellyn of Madison.

Larry’s family would like to thank Megan Nuckols, his wound care specialist, SunCrest Home Health of Clarksville, his wound care nurses: Georgia, Tracey, and Mary Beth, his physical therapists: Ashley and Shawn, Aveanna Hospice nurses and staff, The Waters of Springfield nurses and staff, NorthCrest Medical Center, his cardiologist: Dr. Tracy Callister, Vanderbilt Health Care in Pleasant View, especially Sarah Vann and her nurses and staff.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or to Tunnel to Towers.

Services have been entrusted to Robertson County Funeral Home.
