Lafern Belt Martin, 89, of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday June 27, 2022, at her home. Graveside services will be conducted Friday July 1st at 10:00 a.m. in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with her grandson, Ryan Martin, officiating. Pallbearers will be David Walker, Tommy Johnson, Steve Fisher, Nathan Fisher, Eddie Allred, and David Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Johnson, Mike Martin, Kent Martin, Gary Johnson, Mike Belt, John Mark Belt, and Cletis Fisher. The family will receive friends at the graveside service on Friday.
Mrs. Martin was born February 1, 1933, in Robertson County to the late Clarence Thomas “Jack” and Etta Cook Belt. She was a graduate of East Robertson High School and was a retired clerk with South Central Bell. Mrs. Martin was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and she attended Grace Baptist Church with her family. She loved reading, working puzzles, watching sports and game shows. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Billy Mac Martin and by her daughter: Joni Martin.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Kim Martin of Springfield, by her daughter: Jana Martin of Hendersonville, by her grandchildren: Jackie Rawls, Ryan Martin and wife Michelle, and Greg Martin, by her brothers: Robert Belt of Columbia and George “Johnny” Belt of Hendersonville, by her sisters: Noreen Fisher of Springfield, Juanita Johnson of Springfield, and Phyllis Curtis of Springfield, by her 5 great grandchildren and by her honorary grandson: David Walker.
