Kay G. Stoope, age 82 of Orlinda, died Sunday, March 8, 2020 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Derek Wix, Jason Young, Daryl Wix, Brad Singleton, Hayden Nelson, Kevin Stoope, Jeff Stoope, and Jeremiah Cooper serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 3 until 8 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
Mrs. Stoope was born February 17, 1938 in Robertson County to the late Delmer and Nell Eidson Goostree. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the Robertson County Board of Education where she worked as a bookkeeper at East Robertson High School. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially watching them play ball. She also enjoyed fishing and dancing, where she met her husband, Wayne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Lee Swearingen; a son-in-law, Todd Young; a brother, Phillip Goostree; and a sister, Joyce Jernigan.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne N. Stoope of Orlinda; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and Daryl Wix of Orlinda and Vicki S. Young of White House; step daughter and husband, Lisa and Brad Singleton of White House; step-sons and wives, Jeffery and Mandy Stoope of Sumrall, MS and Kevin and Amy Stoope of Arlington, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Jona Goostree of Cross Plains; sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia Austin of Cincinnati, OH and Dianne and Ronald Baker of Cross Plains; grandchildren, Jason Young and wife, Kecia, Derek Wix and wife, Alisha, Lexi Young, Lindsey Cooper and husband, Jeremiah, Hayden Nelson, Madison Singleton, Casey Stoope, and Jake Stoope; and 5 great grandchildren.
The family request, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Robertson County Special Olympics. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
