John Larkin Cobb, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age of 61. He was born on August 22, 1963, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to Marge Cobb and the late Bill Cobb.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Michelle Lynn Cobb (McDonald) and leaves behind a large and loving family: Mother Marge Cobb; daughter Jennifer Spangler (Cody); grandchildren Addison, Ansley, and Owen Spangler; daughter Ashlynn Cobb; sisters Laurie Wicezorek (Dave); Kathy Davis, Cheryl Cobb, and Pam Cobb-Crawford. Brother-in-law Jeffrey (Jennifer) McDonald.
John graduated from Bloom Trail High School in Sauk Village, IL. He went on to become an ASE-certified technician and later owned and operated successful businesses in Springfield and Madison.
John served as a reserve deputy and mounted patrol officer for Robertson County. He found great joy in a wide range of adventurous activities, including water sports, four-wheeling, motorcycling, skiing, roller skating, horseback riding, and driving sports cars.
John was deeply devoted to his faith and was actively involved in the church community. He served faithfully as an associate pastor and as a praise and worship leader for many years.
He was passionate about sharing the love of Christ with everyone he met, always stressing the importance of knowing Jesus and embracing the gift of salvation. His heartfelt request to all would be this:
If you do not know the Lord, accept Jesus into your heart, believe that He was raised from the dead, and you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
