Jo Ann (Spain) Briley

Jo Ann Briley, age 82 of the Owens Chapel Community in Springfield, passed from this life on December 25, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Doug Spain officiating. Burial will follow in Owens Chapel with Randy Briley, Dale Spivey, David Spivey, Isaiah Short, Josh Spain, and Ray Dean Spain serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM and on Wednesday from 11 AM until the hour of service.

Jo Ann was born April 25, 1939 to the late Artha Edward and Vadie Lee Eden Spain. She was the oldest of 9 children. She graduated from East Robertson High School in the class of 1957. She was a member of Greenwood Free Will Baptist Church in Cross Plains where she loved attending to worship and fellowship. Sewing, cooking, and baking cakes were some of the things she enjoyed doing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Briley, and three brothers, James Edward, John Thomas “Johnny”, and J.T. “Pete” Spain.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Tina Briley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bennie and Noreen Spain of Cedar Hill, Melvin and Jean Spain of Springfield, and Donnie and Joyce Spain of Springfield; sisters, Wanda Spivey of Orlinda and Evalina Hart of Springfield; and 55 nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
