Jimmy D. Jones, 81, of Cross Plains, passed from this life on Thursday June 18, 2026, at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday June 24th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Diana DeWitt officiating. Interment committal services will follow in Cross Plains Cemetery with Pastor John Vida officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Anderson, Drew Brooksher, Bill Anderson, Mark Jernigan, Jimmy Reese, James Reese, Steve Stringer, Scott Murphy, Seth Stroud, and David Pinson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Cross Plains United Methodist Church, members of the East Robertson High School Class of 1963, and Mr. Jimmy’s Charles C. Parks company friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Jimmy was born January 4, 1945, in Robertson County, to the late David J. and Margaret Rippy Jones. He was a graduate of East Robertson High School Class of 1963 and was a lifelong member of Cross Plains United Methodist Church where he served on many committees and was church treasurer for over 30 years. Mr. Jimmy worked for Charles C. Parks company for 49 ½ years and retired as a senior buyer for the company. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid New York Yankees and Vanderbilt Commodores fan. Mr. Jimmy enjoyed going to Commodores games when he could and was a long-time season ticket holder.
Mr. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Anderson Jones, whom he would be married to for 62 years this coming September, by his brothers-in-law: Jim (Julie) Anderson of Portland and Bill (Betty) Anderson of Portland, by his sisters-in-law: Emily Yount of Cross Plains and Bernice (Jimmy) Reese of Gallatin, by his nieces and nephews: Julia (Drew) Brooksher, Mark Jernigan, Seth (Julia) Stroud, and James (Lisa Whitaker) Reese, by his great nieces: Della Rose Brooksher and Ivy Elisabeth Stroud, and by his beloved fur baby: Rosie Mai.
