James Robert “Jim” Tate, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday November 20, 2019 at North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday November 23rd at 2:30 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Eric Limbo and Brother Ronnie Cope officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in White House with Bill Tate, Steve Carter, Tim Love, Jeff Love, Leslie Cope, Austin Cope, Randy Cope, and Alan Cope serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John and Joe Love. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Tate was born June 15, 1948 in Davidson County to the late William Robert and Nellie Mae Landrum Tate. He was a graduate of Greenbrier High School Class of ’66. He was a retired truck driver and then worked as an equipment operator for Cope Brothers. Mr. Tate was a member of the Son’s of Confederate Veterans and he attended Cedar Hill United Methodist Church. He loved gardening, mowing his grass, and anything that allowed him to be outside working.
Mr. Tate is survived by his son: Bill Tate of LaVerne, by his brother: William Michael Tate of Greenbrier, and by Diane Love Tate of Springfield.
