James Roy “Jim” McKee, age 77 of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his home, surrounded by all his family and close friends. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Tony Cobb, Danny Borthick, Jeff Walker, and Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Royce Holman, Marty Schmidt, Matt Eggleston, Jeff Walker, Mike Gallagher, John Fox, David McKee, Todd Williamson, and Tyler Williamson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Williamson, Mike Nadler, The Legacy Men’s Golf Group, The Hackers, and The Bruisers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 until 7 PM and 11 AM until the time of service on Friday. The family requests that to honor his love of golf that you come dressed in your favorite golf attire.
Mr. McKee was born August 2,1947 in Nashville to the late J.R. and Mildred Kathryn Jones McKee. He was one of the most avid golfers one would ever find and he spent his last 12 years carting his grandson Tyler all over the country playing junior golf. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards & Sudoku, and was constantly tinkering or fixing something. He was an entrepreneur, having worked in real estate, construction and car sales among other things. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth McKee.
Surviving him are his wife, Patricia “Pat” Phillips McKee of Springfield; son, David McKee of Franklin; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Todd Williamson of Springfield; grandchildren, McKenzie Williamson, Tyler Williamson, and Cameron McKee; and sister, Nancy Dorris of Springfield.
The family requests, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to Robertson County Junior Golfers. All contributions will go to assist with the expense of the school golf teams’ use of facilities. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
