Helen Keller Bridges died peacefully at the age of 97, on Thursday May 18, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday May 30th at 5:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Parker officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was the only child of Alexander and Edna Keller, born April 20, 1922 in Ft. Myers, FL. She married Willard Lee Bridges at the age of fifteen and lived most of her married life in Miami, FL where they raised three boys. After the boys were grown, Helen and Willard moved to Ochopee, FL in the Everglades where they fished, rode airboats, swamp buggies, and four wheelers. During the summer months they camped all over the United States and Canada making numerous friends. Following Willard’s death in 1975, Helen moved to Springfield to be near two of her sons. Later she remarried and lived in Alabama and north Florida. When her health failed, she returned to Springfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Willard Bridges and James Bridges, and by her son: Tim Al Bridges. Helen leaves to remember her, her sons: Jack Lee (Barbara) Bridges and Willard Lee Bridges, granddaughters: Christina (Eric) Keiffer, Jill Bridges, Erin (Brandon) Walker, Megan (Rafal) Knap, and Melissa (Jimmy) Carr, ten great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
