Harold E. “Mr. Harold” Douglas, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday April 21, 2020 at his home. A private family graveside service will be conducted on Friday April 24th in the Palestine Cemetery with Reverend Diane Coppock and James Marshall officiating. No visitation will be held.
Mr. Harold was born July 13, 1936 in Clarksville to the late R.J. and Mary Martin Douglas. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1955. Mr. Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Over the years he was an employee of Ford Glass, Texaco Oil, Daniel and BE&K Construction. He was most proud of being co-founder of Douglas and Co., forever known as Douglas Amoco, where he was Pit Master. Mr. Harold loved his horses and farm, where he spent many hours of enjoyment.
Mr. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 62 years: Faye Reid Douglas of Springfield, by his son and daughter-in-law: Eric and Betty Lou Douglas of Springfield, by his grandson: Todd Helmintoller, by his great grandchildren: Myra, Sloane, and Hope Helmintoller, by his faithful dog: Samantha, and by a number of cousins, nieces, nephews, many best friends and caretakers.
