Geneva Tanner, 80, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at NHC Healthcare Center in Springfield. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday January 7th at 11:00 in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Brother Martin Babb and David Dean officiating. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. There will be no public visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Tanner was born August 19, 1940 in Adams, TN. She worked for Acme Boot and retired from Electrolux after many years. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mrs. Tanner enjoyed gardening, shopping, and especially going to yard sales. She loved the Lord, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Goldie Mae Gardner Plunkett, by her sisters: Marie Chisenhall, Jean DiOrio, LuBell Phelps, and Vickey Wrenn, and by her brothers: Clarence, Curtis, and Calvin Plunkett.
Mrs. Tanner is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edward Tanner, Jr., by her sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby and Dixie Tanner of Lake Placid, FL, Richard and Darla Tanner of Springfield, John and Jennifer Tanner of Lebanon, by her sisters: Genett Wix (Harold) Harper of Springfield, and Dorthy Ann Lee of White House, by her brothers: Smokey (Bernice) Plunkett of Orange, TX, and Edward (Barbara) Plunkett of Springfield, by her six grandsons: Michael (Courtney) Hudgens of Houston, TX, Charles (Stephanie) Tanner of Summerville, SC, Shawn Tanner (fiancée Dana Mathis) of Murfreesboro, William (Nikki) Tanner of Greenbrier, Matthew (Jessi) Hudgens of Summerville, SC, and Leighton Tanner of Nashville, by her two granddaughters: Kimberlyn Tanner of Murfreesboro and Heather (Bradley) Whited of Lebanon, and by her eight great grandchildren: Charlie and Alex Tanner, Riley, Raelyn, and Liam Tanner, Sepra Tanner, and Saylor and Decker Whited.
