Frances Mayes (Spurgeon) Lawson

Frances “Sharon” Mayes Lawson, 80, of Greencastle, IN, passed from this life on Saturday November 19, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Greenbrier. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday November 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Travis Shoulders, Dual Bilyeu, Jacob Lepper, Charlie Mayes, Klint Arnold, and Robert Nicholson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lawson was born January 15, 1942, in Indianapolis, IN. She retired from Leer Corporation. Mrs. Lawson enjoyed her family and she loved anything “grandchildren”. It was the little things that she loved the most. You could find a painted rock, or handmade gift from the grandkids just about everywhere. She enjoyed watching and feeding her hummingbirds and she loved her flowers. Mrs. Lawson looked forward to her Mother’s Day flowers the most and enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father: Garis W. Spurgeon, by her mother: Sylvania D. Morris, by her husbands: Melvin Mayes and Bob Lawson, and by her siblings: Walter Spurgeon, Richard Spurgeon, and Mary Johansen.

Mrs. Lawson is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Kim and Jewell Henderson of Greenbrier, Kelly Mayes of Greencastle, IN, by her grandchildren: Nikki (Travis) Shoulders, Kasey (Dual) Bilyeu, Mandi (Jake) Foxworthy, Dalton Davis, Garis Mayes, and Kynzie Brown, by her great grandchildren: Graci Lance, Ella Shoulders, Mason Sparks, and Easton Lepper, by her brother: James (Phyliss) Spurgeon of Greencastle, IN, by her sister: Patricia (Robert) Nicholson of Seymour, IN, by her stepbrother: David (Karen) Spurgeon, and by her stepsisters: Charlene Gray and Charlotte (Tom) Cole.
