Everett Earl Dowdell, 73, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday March 18th at 1:00 p.m. in the Penn Township Cemetery in Moweaqua, IL. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Dowdell was born December 20, 1946 in Taylorville, IL to the late Herschel C. and Mary Parker Dowdell, Sr. He graduated from Bethany High School. Mr. Dowdell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. Mr. Dowdell was a retired machine operator with the former Tate & Lyle. He loved hunting, fishing, and both building and collecting model trains.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Clifford Dowdell. Mr. Dowdell is survived by his wife: Janet Waller Dowdell of Decatur, IL, his sons: Josh (Analisa) Dowdell of Texas, Jon (Becky) Dowdell of Texas, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Dowdell of Arizona, by his daughter: Emily Dowdell Green of Decatur, IL, by his brothers: Darrell (Claudia) Dowdell of Hermitage, Herschel C. (Kaye Hunt) Dowdell, Jr., of Goodlettsville, Donald (Leslie) Dowdell of Madison, by his sister: Carolyn Finch of San Antonio, TX, and by 5 grandchildren
