Evelyn Felton Obituary

Dorothy Evelyn Krisle Felton-wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, passed from this earth on Sunday September 14, 2025, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Evelyn was born at home in Springfield, Tennessee on December 20, 1942, to the late John Rayburn Krisle and Rubye Dorris Krisle. Her sister, Brenda Krisle Jones also preceded her in death. Surviving her are her husband, Howard Wayne Felton; daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian White and Michael, Julie Chace and Sandy; grandchildren, Alex (Ashley) White, L.S. “Le” Chace V, Daniel Chace; great grandchild, Gemma Parker White and sister, Joyce Raye (Sam) Patton.

Evelyn first and foremost was a wife. Sixty-four years of marriage reciprocating strength, love, trust, and admiration she and Howard maintained a unique bond that displayed to those around that marriage and true love was worth the work and to be celebrated.

She was a mother. Unconditionally loving guiding and nurturing her girls throughout their lives. Sometimes boldly and outspoken but mostly quietly with gentle emphasis. She respected their individual personalities while guiding them to be their best.

She was the best Grandma EVER. She made sure each of her grandsons KNEW they were her favorite. She created the most incredible memories with them on the farm catering to each of their unique personalities. In her last year she was delighted, and her days were brightened by her great-grand daughter Gemma.

Evelyn was a teacher. She obtained a degree in Biology with a minor in History from Western Kentucky University in 1976. She spent the bulk of her career teaching Biology at Springfield High School. In the latter years of her career, she was drawn to teach at the Alternative School. She had a special place in her heart for kids who were at a disadvantage and spent the remainder of her career trying to give extra to those children that needed a little more.

With a zeal for life, she drove some sort of muscle car for most of her adult life. She loved music and live concerts. She made sure she, her girls and grandsons saw all the greats. The Stones, The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, Kid Rock, just to name a few. (We suspect she was the only 75+ person at the Kid Rock Concert) Wanting to remain active after retirement Evelyn overcame her fear of water and learned how to swim. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed count cross stitch. But her greatest accomplishment post-retirement was in Martial Arts. She earned a 5th degree black belt and title of Master in Kiyojute Ryu Tempo Bugie, a 2nd degree black belt in Budoshin Jujitsu with a title of Sensei, and 1st degree black belt in Karate.

After a life well lived, she leaves an immense gap in the lives of those who loved her.

If so desired, the family suggest that memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. All donations may be sent in care of Robertson County Funeral Home.
