Donald Ray Burney, 90, of Cedar Hill, passed away on Friday February 20, 2026. His remains were cremated, and a graveside committal service will be conducted Friday March 13th at 11:00 a.m. in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tim Harris officiating.
Donald was born March 3, 1935, in Robertson County, to the late Harry and Annie Murphy Burney. He was a self-employed contractor and was of the Church of Christ faith. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, junking, and tinkering. His favorite pastime was going to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, where he especially loved going to the Dixie Stampede and riding go-carts.
Donald will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Sue Burney, who died in October of 2011. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his daughters: Paula Marie Burney and Donna Sue Leavell, and by his siblings: J.W. Burney, Odell Burney, and Elizabeth Watts.
Donald is survived by his granddaughter: Brandy Rae Crawford and her husband Samuel Nichalous Crawford of Springfield, by his great granddaughter: Angel Rae Crawford, and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
