Devan Dorris Obituary

Alicia Devan Dorris, age 27 of Springfield, TN, went to her Heavenly home on July 4, 2026, after a lengthy illness at Vanderbilt Hospital, surrounded in love by her family. Devan was born on October 26, 1998. Her life began with challenges, but she possessed amazing strength and taught everyone around her how to be strong.

She began early intervention therapies and attended an inclusive preschool program at Woodall Elementary in White House, TN. She got to ride the bus for a brief time, which she absolutely loved! Devan then attended Jo Byrns, where she worked on her own individualized educational program in an inclusive setting alongside her classmates. After a surgery, she finished out her education at home, and she also attended many years of Summer School. Devan truly loved school and was blessed with many wonderful friends, assistants, teachers, and therapists.

Mount Zion United Methodist Church is where Devan was Christened, and she shared many special memories there with her family and church community.

Devan deeply appreciated the simple things in life. She loved her favorite songs, good food, snacks, swimming, trains, boat rides, babies, animals, and nature's beauty. She cherished car rides by the dog park and down the backroads of Robertson County. Some of her favorite moments included singing karaoke and watching football with her Daddy, stories with Mommy on the porch, and hanging out with her brother in his room. She especially loved the Teletubbies, and Tinky Winky was her absolute favorite. Devan loved her home, her town, her family, her extended family, and especially her little cousins. Devan just loved her life; she had a joyful soul and was a true light to this world.

Devan is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Charles "Chuck" Ramsey and Virginia Pryor "Jenny" Ramsey of Springfield, TN; her uncle, Tim Dorris; her cousin, Ammie Dorris of Springfield, TN; and her beloved miniature poodle, Roses.

Devan is survived by her father, Jeffrey Raymond Dorris, and her mother, Jana Ramsey Dorris of Springfield, TN; her brother, Austin Dexter "Dex" Dorris, and his fiancée, Julia McHale Morss of Dallas, TX; and her grandparents, Robert Lee "RL" Dorris and Myrtle Groves Dorris of Springfield, TN; along with a host of beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins.

We are so grateful to God for blessing us with such a beautiful, sweet girl. She filled our lives with love, joy, giggles, and smiles. She taught us how deeply we could love, and her love will stay with us forever.

A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at her home at a later date.
