Delinda Bell Obituary

Delinda Faye Townsend Bell, affectionately known as Linda, was born on November 23,1945, to the late Mattie Townsend and James Woodard. After the death of her mother, Delinda was raised by her grandmother, Della Townsend.

Delinda attended Bransford Elementary and graduated from Bransford High School in 1963.

In 1968, Delinda graduated from the former Jesse Holman Jones Hospital Licensed Practitioner Nurse Program (LPN), and she worked as an LPN for the hospital. Subsequently, Delinda devoted her nursing skills as a Home Health Nurse. She loved her calling of helping others. Delinda used her nursing acumen for numerous families and loved ones recovering from illnesses, emergencies, and surgeries.

On December 21st, 1968, Delinda married Horace Cardell Bell. To this union, Alicia Colette Bell was born. Given her parents' ages, Alicia was considered a gift from God.

Aside from raising her daughter, Alicia, and practicing nursing, Delinda loved to cook and bake and was known to do this for her family and friends. During the holidays, she would make caramel cakes and chess squares.

Some of the most beloved and memorable moments of Delinda's life were with her grandchildren, Malia, Aryanna, Jamon, and Aliyia; who all affectionately knew her as "Nanny". In addition to her daughter and grandchildren, cherishing her memory are her sister, Betty Kaye Cox; nephew, Ron; aunt, Lena Townsend Bradley, Washington, D.C.; Special cousins: Equilla T. Wicks, Clarksville, TN, and Rosa Townsend Rodgers, Goodlettsville, TN; Benita Townsend; Springfield, TN; Elaine Swann, Springfield, TN; Close friends: Alice Thomas, Jurine Brown, Bonnie Benton, Russellville, KY; Numerous cousins, friends, and her community of nurses and other medical professionals.

"I chose not to lose my mom, and instead to gain an angel. In my mind, my heart, and my life, she is still completely present to this day - and as wise, compassionate, and stubborn as ever" - Kevin Hart
