David Young, age 70 of the Owens Chapel community in Springfield, died Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jonathon Young, Todd Bilyeu, Timmy Fugate, Paul Wayne Young, Corey Braswell, Johnny “Bubba” Pentecost, Montana Honaker and Dallas Honaker serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM and Thursday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Young was born March 6, 1950 in Greenbrier to the late Charlie and Carrie Hulsey Young. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from Wylie Steel after 44 years of service. David had several hobbies including collecting belt buckles, knives, and guns. He enjoyed spending time doing iron works and metal works and working with his Belgian horses and wagons and also trail riding. One of his favorite things was feeding his neighbors with all the food he grew in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Young of Springfield; son, David Brian Young of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Ann and Jonathan Honaker of Springfield; and grandchildren, Lexani Young, Brianna Young, Jonathon Young, Montana Honaker, and Dallas Honaker.
The family suggest, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
