Connie Laverne Whitaker, age 78, of Adams, Tennessee died Wednesday May 22, 2024, at Tristar North Crest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 24, 2024, at 2 pm in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with burial to follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12 pm until the hour of service at 2 pm.
Connie was born February 3, 1946, in Springfield, Tennessee to the late Samuel and Margaret Rice Gilstrap. Her husband, George Marion Whitaker and brothers, Scott, David and Mac Gilstrap also preceded her in death. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed watching them all play ball and was an avid reader and an amazing cook and baker.
Surviving Connie are her sons, Sam Whitaker (Anita) of Adams, Jim Whitaker of Greenbrier; daughter, Hope Whitaker of Clarksville; brothers, Ronnie Gilstrap and William Gilstrap, sister, Lynette Sikes, grandchildren, Justin Whitaker (Tiffanie), Kalob Whitaker, Lauren Whitaker, Shelby Spann (Shane), Arley Pendergrass III and Micayla Pendergrass, 7 great grandchildren, and her loving sister-in-law, Debbie Petrus.
If so desired the family requests that memorial donations may be made to Autism Speaks. All donations may be sent care of the Robertson County Funeral Home.
