Charles Thomas “Woody” Woodard, Jr., 88, of Springfield, passed from his earthly life on Friday September 11, 2020 at his home. Homegoing graveside services will be conducted on Saturday September 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill with Elder William Birdsong Officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at the graveside. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Saturday.
Mr. Woodard was born on November 9, 1931 in Springfield to the late Charles and Annie Woodard, Sr. He was educated in the Robertson County School system and was a graduate of Bransford High School Class of 1949. Mr. Woodard a retired Staff Sergeant with the United States Air Force and was also retired from the water department from the City of Columbus, OH.
Mr. Woodard was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Evangeline Woodard, by his sister: Delphene Woodard, and by his uncle and aunt: Johnny and Mildred Stone. He leaves to cherish his memory his son: Stanley Woodard of Springfield, his brothers: Major (Eva) Woodard of Los Angeles, CA, and Sherrill Woodard of Springfield, by his grandchildren: Stantez Felica Bowens, Cecilla Bowens both of Springfield, by is great grandson: Stantavious Bowens of Springfield, by his nephew: Reginald (Jana) Woodard of Portland, by his nieces: Phyllis Dowlenand Courtney Williams both of Springfield, and Carla Harris of Nashville, by special friends: Dorothy Grant, Alice Woodard, Hester Woodard, James Bragg, Chris Williams, Chris Mason, Curtis Jamison, and Tracey Wells, and by a host of other relatives and friends.
