Charles “Buddy” Offutt, age 87 of Springfield, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Cross Plains Cemetery with Dr. Robert Blackaby officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Murphy, Blair Offutt, Chris Offutt, John Blackaby, David Blackaby, and Jason Offutt. The family will receive friends at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Friday from 4 until 8 PM and again on Saturday from 12 noon until 1:15 PM.
Mr. Offutt was born October 21, 1932 in Cross Plains to the late Charles N. and Irene Scott Offutt. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was an electrician, having worked for Cumberland Electric and later doing work for individuals on his own. He loved flying model airplanes, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and football, especially the Tennessee Vols and the Tennessee Titans. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Johnson Offutt.
He is survived by his son, Jon Offutt and wife, Carla of Clarksville; daughter Jo Susan Offutt-Blackaby and husband, Dr. Robert Blackaby of Calgary Alberta, Canada; brothers, Joe Offutt and wife, Anita and Jimmy Offutt and wife, Cheryl, both of Cross Plains; and grandchildren, Blair Offutt, Brendan Offutt, Rachel Blackaby, Chris Offutt, John Blackaby, David Blackaby, Shelby Pawlowski, and James Nolan Pawlowski.
