Carrie Neter Rust, 91, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed from this life on Tuesday April 14, 2026, at the home of her niece in Athens, AL. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Adams Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Carrie was born February 26, 1935, in Adams, TN, to the late Noel Dalton and Thelma Lynch Rust. She moved to and lived for over 60 years in Lafayette, IN, before moving to Hopkinsville, KY. Carrie received her master’s degree from Purdue University. She taught English at Indiana University and Purdue University and was a member of First Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN. Carrie enjoyed writing and singing songs of worship, was an avid reader, and she was a published writer and poet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Walter Scott Rust, Charles Rust, Dartha Louise Rust, Janet Rust, Thelma Ann Rust Davenport, and Glenda Kay Rust Hunter, and by her niece: Martha Elizabeth Rust. Carrie is survived by her nieces: Sunday Davenport Bloodworth of Athens, AL, Sarah Rust Cecil of Clarksville, and Nancy Gay Rust of Adams, by her nephews: Glenn Davenport of Arizona, and David Bryant of Clarksville, and by many great nieces and nephews.
Services have been entrusted to Robertson County Funeral Home.
