Billy Dean Hampton, Sr., age 73 of Greenbrier, died Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at The Waters of Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 2, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel with Rev. Jerry Heflin officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tyler Clouse, Joe Sartan, Donnie Baggett, Chris Jones, Zack Jones, Lonnie Hampton, and Ronnie Hampton serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and Friday from 1 PM until the hour of service.
Mr. Hampton was born June 14, 1948 in Springfield to the late John L. and Evelyn Dunavin Hampton. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a retired truck driver with Dean Oil Company. He loved to watch Atlanta Braves baseball and University of Tennessee football, and watching westerns. He liked to hunt and fish and in his later years loved to play golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Sharon Moses Hampton.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy Dean and Jennifer Hampton, Jr. of Greenbrier; brothers, Terry Hampton of Clarksville and Harold Hampton of Greenbrier; sister, Shirley Hampton of Greenbrier; grandsons, Billy Dean Hampton III of Springfield and Landry Hampton of Greenbrier; and great grandchildren, Cassidy, Bronson, Ethan, and Easton Hampton, all of Cedar Hill.
