Billy Byrns Boner, age 83 of Greenbrier, was born December 18, 1937 in Nashville. He was a former Minor League Baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals, a Sergeant in the United States Army, a Union truck driver, a President of the Teamsters Local 327, a beloved father of five, and a much admired Jr. Pro Football and Little League Baseball Coach, and a Mentor to hundreds. He passed away Wednesday morning, March 10, 2021 at NorthCrest Health.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther H. and Margaret Burton Boner; brother, Rainey Boner; sister, Bennie Roberts; and brother-in-law, Corky Roberts.
Mr. Boner is survived by his sons, Byrns Lee Boner of Nashville and Luther Jason Boner of Hendersonville; daughters and son-in-law, Debi Boner Gunther of Nashville, Terri Palmore of Goodlettsville, and Sherri and Ronnie Huddleston of Franklin, KY; step son, Scott Primm and wife, Tammy of Greenbrier; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Mary Ann Boner of Old Hickory; sisters, Carol Temple of Nashville, Peggy Garrett of Joelton, and Dorislynn McGhee of Madison; sister-in-law, Ariel Boner of Hendersonville;7 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; and 4 great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sharon cemetery with Dylan Gunther, Duncan Gunther, Devin Gunther, Collin Baggett, Brandon Palmore, and Dwayne Lannom serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2 until 8 PM and Sunday from 12 noon until the hour of service.
