Betty Woodard Obituary

Betty Garrett Woodard, 89, of Springfield, passed away on Monday July 8, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Calvert-Rosenberger officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Phil Spicer, Jason Woodard, Miller Moore, Tray Batey, Jerry Rittenberry, Jr., Ted Stubblefield, and Neil Sutherland serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Woodard was born June 2, 1930 in Madison to the late James Walton and Martha Love Chadwell Garrett. She graduated from Isaac Litton High School and then attended Martin Methodist where she received an Associates of Arts degree. Mrs. Woodard served as church secretary at Central Christian Church in Springfield, of which she was also a member of, for many years. She was a member of the Youngville Home Demonstration Club, the Christian Women’s Fellowship at Central Christian Church, and the Farm Bureau Women. She loved knitting, sewing, and reading. Mrs. Woodard loved being “Gran” to all her grand and great grandchildren and loved spending time with all her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Winters Woodard, by her daughter: Libby Woodard Spicer, and by her brother: Tommy Garrett. Mrs. Woodard is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Winn and Kathy Woodard of Springfield, by her son-in-law: Phillip Spicer of Nashville, by her grandchildren: Phil Spicer and wife Annie, Jason Woodard, Beth Woodard, and Nan Moore and husband Miller, by her great grandchildren: Averi McKinney, Phillip Spicer, and Corwynn Moore, by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jimmy and Jane Garrett of Nashville, Henry Garrett of Madison, Dot Woodard of Springfield, and by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Anne and Jerry Rittenberry of Madison, Nan and Walter Batey of Gallatin.
