Betty Jean Thweatt Molnar, 83, of Cunningham, passed from this life on Wednesday August 14, 2024, at Vantage Pointe Village in Ashland City. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday August 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Brock Simon, Jerry (J) Edwards, John Ponzio, Marc Simon, Aaron Watson, Gary Carpenter. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Betty was born April 29, 1941, in Memphis, to the late Luther Lloyd and Mary Frances Thomas Lynn Thweatt. She retired as a cash office specialist at Target and was of the Methodist faith. Betty was a lady of many talents. She enjoyed vintage doll making, paper tole, was an ultimate party planner, and always came up with the best party games, if an opportunity arose to dress up in costume, she was in it to win it, and was usually the life of the party. Betty was a decorating extraordinaire, especially at Christmas time. She loved dancing and couldn’t sit still when the music started playing. At her senior home, Betty was affectionately known as The Hat Lady and was one of the “Golden Girls” at Vantage Pointe Village. Betty loved to help others and would strike up a conversation with a stranger. She had a great love for her family, friends, and animals, and loved them with all of her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: William John Molnar, by her brother: Luther “Jitter” Thweatt, and by her sister: Elizabeth Carson. Betty is survived by her children: Debbie “Debsi” Simon and husband Marc of Pleasant View, Billy “Bubba” Molnar of Conway, AR, and Sherry “Pickle Nose” Watson and husband Aaron of Conway, AR, by her grandchildren: McKenzie (John) Ponzio, Brock (Renee) Simon, Sydney (Jerry “J”) Edwards, Amanda DuPlessis, Sadie Watson, and Cameron Watson, by her great grandchildren: Llewyn Ponzio, Aurora Edwards, John Michael Edwards, and Ren Ponzio, by her brother and sisters-in-law: Charles and Marti Thweatt of Pass Christian, MS, Ramona Thweatt of Senoia, GA, and by her beloved dog, Buddy.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
