Barbara Jo Spurlock Simpson, 81, of Adams, passed away on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Graveside services will be conducted Friday January 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Tim Harris officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Simpson was born April 2, 1939 in Adams to the late C.B. “Colonel” and Nancy Jane Wilson Spurlock. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Simpson loved gardening, bird watching, fishing, and anything that allowed her to be outdoors. She was a loving mother and wife who worked beside her husband in the fields, worked at Acme Boot company, and was always there to care for others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Simpson, and by her siblings: Marie Wooten and J.B. Spurlock. Mrs. Simpson is survived by her daughter: Diana (Daniel Williams) Webb of Dover, by her granddaughter: Heather Mitten of California, by her great grandchildren: Tamera and Alexis, by her great great grandchildren: Eryn and Payton, by her brothers: C.B. (Helen) Spurlock, Jr., of Indiana, Carl (Elaine) Spurlock of Springfield, George (Scheryl) Spurlock of Cedar Hill, and Danny (Rebecca) Spurlock of White House, by her sisters: Kay Blick of Russellville, KY and June (Mike) Conatser of Cumberland Furnace, and by her very special niece, Vickie Spurlock, who was also her caregiver in her later years.
