Mrs. Meadows was born May 3, 1939 in Cottontown to the late Burton Reese “Dude” and Maggie Opal Durham Bornstein. Her sister-in-law, Carolyn Meadows, also preceded her in death. Barbara was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ and was retired from Farmers Bank in White House. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jerry, having visited all 50 states, and sitting on the porch swing with him watching all the wildlife, especially the deer and turkeys. Probably her favorite thing was to spend time with her family and spoiling her grandkids. Spring was her favorite time of the year, going crappie fishing and taking care of her yard flowers. Anyone could tell you she was always up for a good card game and was always ready to fix a meal for those who needed it.
Surviving her are her husband to whom she would have been married 66 years in August, Jerry Wade Meadows of Cottontown; daughters, Nancy Patronis of Cottontown, Sheila Meadows and husband Tony Binion of Lynchburg, and Karen Swearingen and husband Dale of Orlinda; grandchildren, Wade Swearingen and wife Laura of Portland, Megan Murray and husband Davis of Springfield, and Haley Hobdy and husband John Michael of Cross Plains; great grandsons, Asher and Jake Swearingen; and a great granddaughter due in November.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Keisha Webster and SiSi Kemi, and Adoration Hospice for their care for the last few months.
The family request, if so desired for memorial contributions to be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
