Barbara (Allen) Baggett, 74, of Springfield, TN, departed from this life suddenly on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She leaves behind the legacy of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was fiercely protective of those she loved.
Born February 22, 1952, in Old Hickory, TN, Barbara graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1970 and was an employee of the Federal Reserve Bank in Nashville for 15 years before leaving to dedicate more time to raising her daughters.
She then worked for the Robertson County School Board as a substitute teacher, later taking on the role of secretary at Greenbrier Elementary School, all the while dedicating herself to activities centered around her children. Barbara served as her daughters' Girl Scout Leader, PTO President, and Band Mom. She was an accomplished seamstress who began making her own clothes in high school and continued sewing the latest fashions for her daughters throughout their school years. She was a longtime member of Wartrace United Methodist Church and served as Treasurer of the Robertson County Laity Club.
Barbara will be remembered for her quick wit and laughter, her spirited personality, her expert crochet and sourdough bread-baking skills, her love of lighthouses, and the grocery bags full of helpful goodies she delivered to those she loved. Her daughters' friends remember her for throwing some of the best birthday parties of their childhood.
She is survived by her steadfast and loving husband of 53 years, Jerry Mac Baggett; her beloved daughters, Jennifer (Charlie) Bennett and Amy Baggett; and her grandchildren, Mackenzie Bennett, Morgan Bennett, Max Bennett, and Tucker McHenry, who were the apples of her eye. She was preceded in death by her precious firstborn son, Kevin Mac Baggett; her parents, Johnnie Allen and Zemmah Price Allen; and her brothers, Roy Allen, Robert Allen, Willard Allen, and Johnnie C. Allen.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Wartrace United Methodist Church in Springfield and may be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Robertson County Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Charlene Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Memorial Gardens with Mike Baggett, Charlie Bennett, Larry Cohea, Stephen Holman, Brandon Isabell, Randall Mayes, Ralph Simmons, and Stephen Stewart Jr. serving as pallbearers. Max Bennett will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
