Ann Nixon Obituary

Ann Bruce Nixon was born on November 27, 1924 in Springfield to the late Inez Taylor and George Robert Scott.  Her sister, Nell Frances Scott Luckett also preceded her in death.

Ann Bruce married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Nick” Nixon (deceased) on November 10, 1945. They raised three daughters Cindy, (Tim, deceased) Lyle, Oneonta, AL; Amy (Bill) Gibson, Lexington, KY and Scotty (Clyde) Dean, Springfield, TN.

Ann Bruce was a true southern lady, loving, beautiful and confident. She was a supportive and encouraging mother. She was a great entertainer, avid reader, skilled seamstress, and always busy with a project. Ann Bruce was a huge sports fan with her favorite player and team being Larry Bird and the Titans. She and Nick had wonderful friends and a full life. Her family was everything to her. Christmas was a favorite time for Ann Bruce and she truly was Santa Claus. Her grandchildren were one of the greatest joys in her life. Her grandchildren are Taylor (Jenny) Lyle, Lexington, KY; Katie Lyle (Mesa) Carlson, Brentwood, TN; Abby Lyle (Brian) Clawson, Glendale, CA; and Will (Robin) Dean, Nashville, TN.  Her family also includes great grandchildren; Andy Lyle, Zane Carlson, Mia Carlson, Sawyer Clawson and a baby Clawson on the way, nieces; Lanelle Luckett (Wink) Glover, Meridian, MS and Nancy Luckett Kelly, Birmingham, AL.

Ann Bruce was a member of First United Methodist Church and her family appreciates their continued support during her illness.

We, her daughters, would like to thank the caregivers at Springfield Heights for their kind and wonderful care. Their personal and loving attention improved our mother’s quality of life in her long battle with dementia. We were blessed for her to be at Springfield Heights these past two years.

A private service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stokes Brown Public Library, 405 White Street, Springfield, TN 37172.
