Ann Catherine Ellis Gibbs, 86, of Springfield, passed from this life on Monday October 12, 2020 at AHC Healthcare in Clarksville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Carl Brent Ellis, John Brandon Ellis, Travis Dylan McCreary, Jacob Lloyd Gezley, Hunter Gibbs, and Anthony Wilk serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gibbs was born January 30, 1934 in Springfield to the late Walter and Nealie Nixon Ellis. She was a retired activities director and social worker from Elmhurst Nursing Home and was a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibbs graduated from Springfield High School Class of 1952. She loved the Lady Vols and anything to do with softball. She was named National Director of the Year for the USSSA Softball League.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Carl Gibbs. Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her sons: Carl Timothy “Jake” Gibbs and wife Judy of Warrior, AL, Walter Edward “Ed” Gibbs of Cottontown, by her daughters: Kimberly Ann Gezley and husband Bubba of Springfield, Patti Frances Gibbs of Springfield, by her grandchildren: Katelyn (Erica) Gibbs Edinger, Hunter Gibbs, Loni (Bo) Mantooth, Jacob (Claire) Gezley, Brandon Ellis, Brent Ellis, and Dylan McCreary, and by her six great grandchildren and the 7th soon to arrive.
