Victoria Chezem Obituary

Victoria Lynn Chezem, beloved educator of the Adams community, passed away on Thursday, November 16th at the Northcrest Medical Center following a prolonged battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

"Vicki" was the daughter of the late Charles Chezem of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Joan Wix and the late C.D. Wix of Adams, TN.

She is survived by her mother Joan Wix of Adams; brothers Bob Chezem and Dennis Wix of Cedar Hill; brother, Williard Wayne Wix of Adams; sister, LeAnne Clinard of Clarksville; daughter, Heather Clark, son-in-law, Tim Clark, granddaughter, Kayla Clark, and grandson, David Clark all of Cedar Hill, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Chezem was acclaimed as an excellent teacher, and was certified to teach from Jr. High through College English, Business, and also taught the dying art of Short Hand.

She graduated with honors from Todd County Central High School in 1973. She worked at Ardco in Elkton, Kentucky for over 15 years where she earned the distinction of being the first and only heliarc welder.

Vicki later returned to Adams, and went back to college earning an Associate's Degree of Science, a Bachelor's of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts in English concurrently. She was the first student of Austin Peay State University to receive three degrees at one time. She went on to obtain a Master's degree in Education. She taught at both Austin Peay and Jo Byrns School for several years until her loss of mobility from M.S. forced her into an early retirement.

Her hobbies included reading, writing, sewing, and gardening. She loved to laugh, and greatly enjoyed spending time with family.

Her visitation will take place at Robertson County Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m. with Dr. Frank Gagliano officiating. All family, friends, colleagues, and former students are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Robertson County Animal Shelter to honor her love of animals. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
