Ann Hancock Obituary

Ann Draughon Hancock, 89, of Springfield, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Springfield Heights.

Ann, the daughter of the late Garland and Reese Rust Draughon, was born March 8, 1929, in Springfield, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her twin grandsons, James Landon and Leslie Dale Hancock, Jr.; her brother, Bill Draughon; and her nephew, David Draughon.

Ann was married to the one and only love of her life, Don, for 69 years.

She was a devoted member of Hopewell Baptist Church where she served in past years as church choir leader and children's choir leader. She was a wonderful homemaker, who loved to cook and entertain. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and especially loved her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family will always remember her with love and respect for the thoughtful person she was.

Those left to cherish her memory are her faithful and loving husband, Don; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Benton of Greeneville, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Lissa Hancock of Springfield. Four grandchildren, Andy Benton and wife, Jamie, of Jonesborough, TN; Lieutenant Colonel Brian Benton and wife, Ella, of Columbus, MS; Ashley Turner and husband, Ben, of Brentwood, TN; and Matthew Hancock and wife, Jodi, of Springfield; fifteen great-grandchildren and niece, Kelly Draughon Bayley.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hopewell Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the Church with Rev. Jim Woodard conducting the service. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Benton, Andy Benton, Matthew Hancock, Kenneth Mason, Nathan Fisher, Landon Parks, Josh Benton and Ben Turner
